MUNBA is home to the largest collection of cetaceans in Mexico and Latin America, featuring an array of whale and dolphin species. Through interactive exhibits and meticulously prepared specimens, visitors delve into the biology, behavior, ecology, and conservation of these majestic creatures. The museum’s architecture harmonizes recycled materials with spaces designed for contemplation. Constructed with a strong emphasis on sustainability, MUNBA not only educates but also inspires a culture of environmental responsibility. Visitors are invited to immerse themselves in the exhibits and reflect on the critical importance of protecting cetaceans and our oceans. MUNBA offers innovative soundscapes that transport visitors into the underwater world of cetaceans, enhancing their understanding of these creatures’ communication and environment. Interactive infographics engage and inform, providing in-depth insights into cetacean biology, behavior, and conservation efforts. The museum also features an advanced, interactive robotic microscope, allowing visitors to explore the microscopic world of marine life and gain a unique perspective on oceanic ecosystems. Thoughtfully designed exhibition halls guide visitors through a seamless narrative journey, integrating aesthetic appeal with educational value.

Respect to the architecture

Creative Director & UX Design with Cocay Studio
My process in the creation and supervision of MUNBA’s design and experiences began with an in-depth understanding of the subject matter and the goals of the museum. As the Creative Director, I ensured that every aspect of the museum conveyed a strong narrative about cetaceans and their environment. This involved extensive research and collaboration with marine biologists, conservationists, and educational experts to ensure scientific accuracy and relevance. In supervising the UX design for new experiences, I integrated innovative soundscapes that transport visitors into the underwater world of cetaceans. Interactive infographics were developed to engage and inform visitors, providing in-depth insights into cetacean biology, behavior, and conservation efforts. Additionally, I introduced an advanced, interactive robotic microscope, allowing visitors to explore the microscopic world of marine life. The design of the exhibition halls was meticulously planned to guide visitors through a seamless narrative journey, integrating aesthetic appeal with educational value. Each hall and exhibit were curated to ensure a balance between visual engagement and informative content. The curatorial process involved careful selection and arrangement of exhibits to create a cohesive and impactful visitor experience. Throughout the project, my focus was on creating an immersive environment that not only educates but also inspires reflection and a deeper connection to the ocean’s majestic inhabitants. By utilizing recycled materials and promoting sustainability, MUNBA serves as a model for environmentally responsible museum design. My role extended beyond just design; it was about creating an experience that leaves a lasting impact on visitors, encouraging them to appreciate and protect our marine ecosystems.
